latest market stall renderings!

aluminium!!

Detailing project for DKD

The brief asks for a portable shop/kiosk made mostly (80%) out of aluminium. The structure wil be placed on a site - mostly a university site - and then needs to promote a cellphone network or brand. I have chosen the Apple Iphone as my product. After doing some research on Apple stores on the internet, I decided to combine lots of aluminium and stainless steel with glass, since we did not have to take any budget into consideration!!

My structure or kiosk is one of the bigger designs of the entire class, since mine acts more as a small shop to just a stand which most students went for. Its stands on 4 posts/footings, so is slightly elevated. The outside of the shop seems to come apart, as its a solid box at the back, then the middle of the shop is more exposed and the front is mainly glass.

I have also played with some lighting so the shop would stand out in its surroundings, especially at night!!

reality vs 3D

One of our computers projects for this year is a still frame rendering of a interior view. We had to select a image/photo and then remodel the entire scene in 3d. We then needed to apply the materials, as similar as possible to the ones in the image. Thy lighting, which is usually the most dificult to get right needed to be as close to the real thing as possible. This is my image and my 3d rendering. The rendering took about 90 minutes to complete and the moddeling took me about 2 days to complete.

Portable market stall

This was our first project of the year. we had to design a portable market stall that needs to be easy to move between different sites by a single person. The entire structure needs to fold or pack up into a locker of about 1500 x 300 x 300mm. the structure neede to be lightweight, but must be able to stay standing in these PE winds. We did not have lots of time to come up with many ideas, mainly because this was just a project to get our minds back into thinking architecture after the long holidays and the six months practical we did!! this is what i came up with!

South African Architecture!!

This is a really good book on South African architecture!! Some of the country's big name architectural practisioners were invited to submit some of their finest work for consideration and the selected work found a spot in this book. All the work were divided into six geographic regions, so there is work to be seen from all over the country. This book consists of about 450 pages of articles, citations and really nice images and illustrations. Ora Joubert is mainly responsible for this great review of recent South African architecture. I went out and got myself a copy and I would highly recommend it to everyone intrested in local architecture.
